THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS is an “AD-RAP-TATION” of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors presented at The Varscona Theatre during the Edmonton Fringe Festival, August 15-25, 2013.

Part farce, part parody, a bit of a musical. Think Beastie Boys from Syracuse...“it’s verbal ingenuity - as Shakespeare enjoyed the musical richness of words, spontaneous punning, rhyme, alliteration, linguistic invention. You must see it!"    NY Observer

Directed by Dave Horak (3 Sterling Awards for the 2012 Fringe hit FATBOY) THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS stars some of Edmonton’s premier Hip Hop performers: KazMega, iD, Khiry Tafari, DJ Baggylean and Edmonton actor and musician Scott Shpeley.

Director Dave Horak explains, “I saw this show in New York where it was playing off-broadway, and have always wanted to do it. I want it to feel authentic since it’s a real love letter to old school Hip Hop - Beastie Boys and Run DMC - slammed together with this hilarious Shakespeare play. So having real Hip Hop guys and a really great DJ who is adding fresh beats into the mix really adds extra spice to the play. If you love Shakespeare you’ll be amazed at how faithful this adaptation is and if you love hip-hop you’ll love the tunes - and the thing is if Shakespeare were around today - he’d be a rapper!”

Rap's fast and furious wordplay, commanding rhythms, and social consciousness yield some of the most relevant poetry of our time. And Shakespeare was a master of the collision of forms; the ancient, the political, the historical, and the bawdy - everything was incorporated into his storytelling.

BOMB-ITTY is rap at its best, theatre at its most compelling!

“pulses with wit, savvy and a sublime sense of its own ridiculousness”
